Marilyn Moments #6

Good Evening Sweethearts,
I'm Sorry I haven't been doing many 'Marilyn Moments' recently, I've actually been working on my suite.
I'm doing my whole suite up to resemble 5th Helena Drive, Brentwood. Marilyn's First and Only Home.
I'm trying to do my best. I've yet to find a Puppy that resembles the likeness of Maf. The New Suite will feature
bit's and pieces of the House in 1962 and the house in 2012 + My own Artistic License. I've only done the front
with the blue gate and the Living Room. I'm not sure how to do the Bedroom, I think I may replace the Pill Bottles
(On her bedside) with Perfume Bottles, To keep a Good Thought. So, today's Marilyn Moments will feature those new rooms.

Keep a Good Thought for Marilyn

Last Week in Review #1

Good Evening Lovelies,
I am very sorry for lack of activity on here, I've been held up with dramas on Stardoll and in real life.
I am sure Fear is sorry too, the last time I chatted to her she was doing assignments. This is also the debut
post of my new segment 'Last Week in Review'. It will just basically review the last week on Stardoll. Oh,
I've also started writing on a new Blog 'Stardoll's Ariana Grande'. It is run by my dear friend on Stardoll,
lovelifegirl.

Last Week in Review #1
Well, this week we've had many new shop releases including; PPQ, RIO and Kitsch.
It has also been officially been announced that Stardoll is getting a new layout, theres going to major changes on Stardoll. I seriously hope they make a 'Safe Trading' system or something, like Stardoll's star bazaar system is crap. We can't sell Interiors, make up and we can't look up Hats in SB Fashion. There's also been major issues revolving around the famous Arki. . She has been bullied, big time, on Stardoll. I'm not a big fan of hers, but bullying is the wrong way to deal with it. Theres also this jerk who's making ridiculous accounts specifically made to hate on her. Now she's gone to a new level, hating on people who stand up for justice. My friend lovelifegirl has been listed in her presentation listed as 'Slore'. like wtf is a slore anyway. I asked her to stop bullying and she's like "I'm not, I'm sorry MOTHER DEAR". No one calls me Mother Dear or makes fun of my age. She's also been making fun of Marilyn, like seriously how did MM get into her big headed life. So, any who, be looking forward to the new update on Stardoll. Oh! And what do you think of our new blog layout?

Looking for writer's for my blog 'Old Hollywood on Stardoll'

New Strike a Pose

Okay so, this new store came out the other day. Most of you probably already know it’s called “Strike a pose.”
The shop sells limited fashion items (much like antidote or LE) and concept of this store is rather interesting. The store sells fashion pieces which are in different poses.  The item features some really nice pieces and also some really strange ones. Personally, my favorite pieces of the collection are: New Yorker Blazer Denim and the skirts with the different posed legs. Least favorite item was probably the sweater scarf set. Over all this collection was actually a decent looking limited store.

New Callie's Pick's

New Callie's Picks(Oh no, here we go again)
So, the other day a new Callies Picks came out. This time the theme was “Art pop.”

This collection is once again a whole bunch of random clothes put together to create a so called “theme” based on artpop. The only thing that is close to artpop is the comic print dress. All the rest of these items are completely random and don’t fit together AT ALL. And can someone please tell me why there is that “Dress inspired by Mcqueen” is in there? HOW IS THIS CRAP ARTPOP?! The same goes for the “Inspired by Pucci” dress. To sum this up, stardoll has once again figured out how to release another collection of random bull crap making all the items included look like shit.
Great Work, You've Done it again!

New Kitsch

Good Afternoon,
So here I am talking about one of the newest additions to our Starplaza, Two new floors of Kitsch.
I think Kitsch is one of those stores where you either love it or hate it. I personally am not a fan of Hot Pink, I just think it's a hideous colour, and many of the items released in Kitsch are that colour. It is also a very helpful store for those who like a 'Retro' looking suite.

Above: This is the Message we all received a couple of days ago.

New PPQ

So, recently, new PPQ came out. Once again, I am extremely disappointed with this collection. The dresses are once more over priced and ugly as ever. Most of the dresses have this weird, strange, belt thingy. I don’t even know what to say. Who the hell wears a evening gown and THEN puts a huge, ass, belt over the top. Even worse, this collection seems to be all one colour when all of a sudden, WHAT DO YOU KNOW? TWO DRESSES WITH BRIGHT COLOURED SKIRTS APPEARS OUT OF NO WHERE! This collection barely makes any sense. Now moving on.  To sum this all up, once again PPQ has released another overpriced, ridiculously ugly collection.

 God help us all.

Marilyn Moments #5

~"Oh Piggy, You're just fascinating"~

~Extract from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes~

Good Morning Lovelies,
So, I'm sorry I haven't been doing many 'Marilyn Moments', I've been quite busy. I also have been having trouble paying for the clothes to use for these looks, as if I need a specific item, that isn't in star plaza I may need to may a ridiculous price. So today I am doing my fifth 'Marilyn Moments'. In Gentlemen Prefer Blondes theres a scene where Piggy (Charles Coburn) is showing Lorelei (Marilyn) "How a python can wrap itself around a goat, and kill it". While Piggy is doing this Mr Malone (Ernie Reid) is taking pictures through a port hole, as he is a private detective for Lorelei's fiancée, Mr Esmond (Tommy Noonan). Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is arguably one of Marilyn's most successful films. Although it was a hit at the box office, Marilyn despised her role, as she detested
being portrayed as a 'Dumb Blonde'. My Co - Owner of this blog, Fear has also portrayed Marilyn in this film, although she is Marilyn singing 'Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend'.

~My Doll~

For this look I have used a basic purple belt, DKNY green wrap top, Michael trousers from Royalty. I also used a film theory emerald necklace and gold Miss Sixty heels. I've been planing to do this look for literally years.
Hope you like it xx

My Wizard of Oz Tribute!

Good Afternoon Lovelies,
Well, today I am in a rather good mood. I just got my house painted so yeah, thats pretty good!
So, The Oscars are all finished. Personally I think the awards went to the wrong people. Leonardo DiCaprio,
once again, was robbed of an Oscar. And my least favourite celebrity, Cate Blanchett won 'Best Actress in Leading Role'.
But, the main reason that I watched the Oscars this year is because my childhood favourite film was payed tribute, on it's 75th Anniversary, at the Oscars. Judy Garland, one of the women I admire the most, played the role of Dorothy Gale in MGM's 1939 Classic, The Wizard of Oz (Which is getting payed tribute to). It is the role which made her famous, which made her a legend. Judy's Offsprings; Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft and Joey Luft also payed tribute to their late mother. So today's post is going to be a tribute to Judy and The Wizard of Oz.

A brief Biography of Judy Garland

Frances Ethel Gumm was born on the 10th of June, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota 1922 to vaudevillians; Frank and Ethel Gumm. Frances made her debut when she was only two years old when she sang 'Jingle Bells' at her Father's theatre in Grand Rapids. Frances was part of a vaudeville act called the 'Gumm Sisters' with her two sisters; Suzy Gumm (1915 - 1964) and Jimmie Gumm (1917 - 1977).  Following the rumours that Frank had sexual attractions to male ushers, the family moved to California in June, 1926. Frances auditioned for MGM and signed a contract in 1935. Frances went to school at Metro. Some of her classmates included; Deanna Durban,  Ava Gardener, Elizabeth Taylor, Lana Turner and her dearest friend, Mickey Rooney. Frances later changed her name to Judy, Judy Garland. Judy made several films including; Babes on Broadway, Andy Hardy and Broadway Melody on 1938 until she made her 'star' debut in 1939 in The Wizard of Oz. Judy had supposedly received an offer to play Scarlett O' Hara's younger sister in 'Gone With The Wind'. Judy refused as she was too busy working on 'Oz'. Judy made many more films between 1939 and 1950 including; Meet Me in St Louis, Easter Parade, The Pirate and Summer Stock. Judy married director Vincent Minnelli. Judy gave birth to her first child; Liza. Judy was fired from MGM in 1951. Judy later married manager Sid Luft who managed her on A Star is Born. Judy gave birth to two children; Lorna and Joey Luft. In the late 50's Judy was diagnosed with Hepatitis, she was obese. Judy was told that she was never to work again. Judy made an extraordinary comeback in 1961 at Carnegie Hall, the audience included my stars such as Sophie Tucker. Judy later signed a contract with CBS. In 1963 - 1964 Judy had her own television program, The Judy Garland Show. The show was mysteriously stopped after one series by CBS in 1964. Judy only made a handful on films after A Star is Born. Judy was supposed to appear in The Valley of The Doll's in 1967 but was later fired. Judy married only two more times to Mark Heron and Mickey Deans. Judy was found dead of and accidental overdose of Barbiturates in London, 1969. Thousand's showed up at Judy's funeral to pay respects to the singer which provided them with so much from the age of two years old.

Judy's relationship with Marilyn Monroe

Judy and Marilyn were good friends since they met a Hollywood party in the early 50's. Judy was Marilyn's un - official voice coach in 1959, for Marilyn's film 'Some Like it Hot'. Marilyn's favourite album in the 60's was one of Judy's. Judy was devastated when Marilyn died in 1962, Judy quoted that "Sometimes you have your medicine and then forget and then take some more, and then you relies you've taken too much".
Rest in Peace: Judy and Marilyn

News: 2/3/14

 Good Evening,
So today was quite a big day for me!
All day I have been storing photos for the blog,  Doing some 'Marilyn Moment' 's post's in advanced and creating some new segments. Obviously I have created a new one called 'News' which will be written by both Fear and I. Creating and owning a blog isn't as easy as it seems, feel if you want a good one, you need to have ideas written down and photos stored and much more! For most of today I was getting photos of my Stardoll Account and Storing them on a new Hard drive I bought specifically for the blog. So, As many of you may know my all - time favourite television series is 'The Judy Garland Show' (TJGS). TJGS lasted from 1963 - 1964, it only had one series. So, today I was getting some photos of the Show for an upcoming post and I saw, in the news section, some news about The Judy Garland Show. Naturally I clicked on, since The Show isn't much of a 'craze' these days you don't see many articles about it. So apparently Sycamore Entertainment Group have bought the rights to the series and are going to, for the second time in history, air it on television once again. They  are also going to be selling episodes individually on Android and Apple Devices. I also think they are going to release the Show on DVD, but I still need a reply from the information department. I am so excited ;D

I have created some new segments (listed below):

  • News
  • Outstanding Suites
  • Doll of the Week
~News~
This segment will be published whenever needed to. It will feature Stardoll, Celebreity or Personal News.
Writers: Lucy and Fear

~Outstanding Suites~
This Segment will feature suites that have been created by talented dollies! It will be published three times a week.
Writers: Fear - Not yet confirmed

~Doll of The Week~
This Segment will feature the most amazing doll that I have seen the previous week.

With Love, Marilyn Monroe # 4

With Love from, "Let's Make Love"

"My Heart Belongs to Daddy"
- Marilyn Monroe as Amanda Dell

In recent history, Marilyn Monroe has garnered critical acclaim for her performances in Bus Stop (1956), The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), and Some Like It Hot(1959). Let's Make Love did not appeal to her, but she was obliged to shoot the picture because of her contract with Twentieth Century Fox.

Arthur Miller revised the script so that more emphasis was given to Monroe, his wife. This led to Gregory Peck dropping out and Yves Montand being cast instead. Krasna felt he was miscast because he could actually sing and dance, and so ruined the joke, but MM was enthusiastic about Montand. The two stars wound up having an affair during the making of the film.

When the film was released, it received mixed to negative reviews and made only $4.5 million at the box office. It was the first film starring Monroe to earn so little money in years on its initial release. Production costs were earned back, and would later prove a mild success.

Despite the flimsiness of Let's Make Love, Marilyn's sexuality and spark are evident in one of the film's musical numbers -- the scorching "My Heart Belongs to Daddy."

Let's Make Love received a nomination for Academy Award for Best for Lionel Newman and Earle H. Hagen and two BAFTA nominations for Best Film from and Source for George Cukor and for Best Foreign Actor (Montand). It also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture Musical/Comedy.
Original Music Score

It was a happy accident that I should create this unique look of Marilyn's. I had never really intended to set out and make this style originally, it just kind of made itself. That's why I was probably the most surprised when my doll evolved into the character of Amanda Dell, as portrayed by Marilyn Monroe.

I was experimenting with different MM hairstyles when I stumbled upon this and it evolved into what you see before you. Although "Let's Make Love" wasn't as successful as past Monroe pictures, it is still worth a look for any MM fan who is captivated by her stunning presence and allure. It has lots of charm, so I hope this will inspire you to sneak a peek and see what it has to offer.

With Love, Marilyn Monroe # 3

With Love from,

"A Press Conference in England"

On July 17th 1956, Marilyn Monroe was poised to attended a promotional press conference for her role in the up and coming film being co-stared, produced and directed by Sir Laurence Olivier called  "The Prince and the Showgirl"

I have styled my Doll as Marilyn the day after her and her then Husband, Arthur Miller, arrived in London England for a press conference that was set top be held that evening.
The image to the right is Marilyn and Arthur relaxing in the grounds of Parkside House.

“He [Arthur Miller] wouldn't have married me if I had been nothing but a dumb blonde.” - MM

The 2011 film "My Week with Marilyn" depicts the week in which Monroe spent being escorted around London by personal assistant Colin Clark, during the filming of "The Prince and the Showgirl". The movie is largely based upon two books by Clark recounting his experiences during the production: "My Week with Marilyn" (2000) and "The Prince, the Showgirl, and Me: Six Months on the Set With Marilyn and Olivier" (1996). Both books and the film depict Monroe striking up a friendship and alleged semi-romantic relationship with Clark for a brief time during production.

The dress i'm wearing is called the 'Cassie Dress' it suits the look I'm trying to portray quite well apart from the hole in the middle (I don't know the proper name). I also replaced the black sandals/heels with gold ones from 'Miss Sixty'. My wig is by; XTheFearX.

With Love, Marilyn Monroe # 2

With Love from,
"The Last Sitting"

In 1962, photographer Bert Stern shot a series of photos of Marilyn Monroe that have collectively come to be known as “The Last Sitting.” Taken during several boozy sessions at the Hotel Bel-Air, the photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America’s most famous actress:

Sleepy-eyed and naked, Marilyn sips from a Champagne glass, enacts a fan dance of sorts with various diaphanous scarves, romps with erotic playfulness on a bed of white linens. Six weeks after she had posed, MM was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.

The photos endure partly as artifacts as the last visible evidence of the living woman (a legacy reinforced by Stern’s decision to publish the contact sheets Marilyn herself had crossed out in red marker). But the pictures are also remarkable for the raw truths they seem to reveal. In them, we see an actress whose comedic talents were overshadowed by her sex appeal, a woman who is cannily aware of her pinup status, yet is also beginning to show her 36 years. In many shots, she is obviously drunk. This was an unhappy time for MM. Notorious for her on-set antics, she had been publicly lambasted by Billy Wilder after Some Like It Hot, then fired from the production of Something’s Got to Give;she’d endured two recent divorces and, in 1961, a brief stint in a psychiatric ward.

Stern excavated and preserved the poignant humanity of the real woman—beautiful, but also fragile, needy, flawed—from the monumental sex symbol. In our armoured, airbrushed age, his achievement feels almost revolutionary. The photo shoot was commissioned by Vogue magazine in late June 1962, taking place over three daily sessions, just six weeks before she died.
Bert Stern first published The Last Sitting in 1982. The book included a large number of the over 2,500 images that Stern had shot, including contact sheets with images Monroe had disliked and crossed out. In the book, Stern recounted being enchanted by Monroe until a near-intimate encounter after the second day of shooting; he then realized that she was deeply troubled.

Here I've tried to capture Marilyn's playful nature in these photos. The many limitations of Stardoll have really disabled my efforts to make them as accurate as possible but hopefully you can still make out the basic idea behind them. This is just my best effort to bring light to some of Marilyn's most raw photo's available to the public. You can't deny the amazing appeal and interest of a woman such a Marilyn. Her enduring beauty and grace has captivated many fans into recreating "The Last Sitting". Lindsey Lohan did her best to replicate the famous photoshoot in the spring of 08' with Bert Stern, who also took the photos, nearly 46 years after he had taken the originals.

With Love, Marilyn Monroe # 1

With Love from,
"Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend"

Marilyn Monroe has been widely recognized throughout the years as being a highly iconic public figure whose infinite glamour has stood the test of time - 50 years after her passing.
Some of her most iconic moments in life have captivated millions and have inspired many to borrow her signature style and poise; proving that MM is truly ageless in the public's heart.

"Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend"

from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Here my Stardoll Doll and Suite are designed to emulate

MMs iconic scene from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

As a way to celebrate Marilyn and express fans' immense support for her, many significant people over the years have copied her from this musical scene in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Madonna used the basic theme of this scene to inspire her music video for Material Girl in 1984. The music video was a mimicry of Marilyn Monroe's performance of the song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The mimicked scenes are interspersed with scenes of a Hollywood director trying to win the heart of an actress, played by Madonna herself.
Blake Lively also tried her hand at portraying MM as her character in the T.V show, Gossip Girl in a dream like sequence.

However, no matter how many people try to emulate her, Marilyn Monroe will always be an original. Her style and grace have captivated me as an individual and has been a major source of inspiration for Amber and I on Stardoll. Feel free to express your love for MM by dressing your doll up in this iconic look and sending us pictures of your doll and suite! We'd love to see your interpretation of Marilyn, all the while spreading the MM love!

Marilyn Moments #3

~Custom Look~

  ~'Seven Year Itch' Earrings~

Well, today I'm just doing a low - effort look. I am trying to make an effort to try and do a new 'Marilyn Moments' post everyday. So, because it takes time finding the right clothing to make a Marilyn photo, I didn't have time, it's 10pm so I am just doing a custom look! I am wearing an old piece of mine , which I have had for many years. I have also used a pair of earrings which I designed, they are supposed to be a copy of the earrings Marilyn wore in 'The Seven Year Itch'. I am also wearing some basic; White Heels, handbag and gloves.  Enjoy!!

~My Doll~

 Goodnight Lovelies!
